Overview
This post will show you how to add a domain to your website. Depending on whether you’ve previously registered the domain or are adding a subdomain, the steps are different. This article goes over the following issues.
Adding a domain
Option 1: Use an existing domain or subdomain; Option 2: Create a subdomain; Option 3: Register a new domain.
Option 4: Select a domain name later (dreamhosters.com subdomains)
The addition of a domain
The steps to add a domain to a hosting package are outlined below.
Go to the Manage Websites section.
Add a link to your website
Click the Add Website icon in the top right corner.
Domain options should be included.
Choose one of the following four possibilities:
Enter an existing domain or subdomain: If you’ve already registered your domain, choose this option.
Set up a subdomain: To build a subdomain on a domain you already own, use this option.
Create a new domain name: To begin, choose this option to register your domain name.
Later, choose a domain: To create a free dreamhosters.com subdomain, select this option.
Option 1 — Enter a domain or subdomain you already own
Fill in the domain name.
Enter a domain name that you already own. Check the box to confirm you are the owner of this domain name if it is registered with another company.

Click the Next: Hosting button in the lower right corner.
The following is a list of your hosting plans:

Click the Select button to the right of a plan to which you want to add this domain.

Click the Next: Options button in the bottom right corner.
Option to install WordPress
This page allows you to select from a variety of settings for your website (e.g., installing WordPress). If you only want to add WordPress, click the Select button.

To add hosting to the domain, click the Set Up Website button in the bottom right corner.
Message of Success
The site has been added to the hosting plan, and a success message appears.
Option 2 — Create a subdomain
Subdomains must be entered.
In the first text area, type your subdomain. For instance, a blog or a discussion forum.
Select an existing domain on your account from the Parent domain dropdown.

Option to install WordPress
This page allows you to select from a variety of settings for your website (e.g., installing WordPress). If you only want to add WordPress, click the Select button.

Message of Success
The site has been added to the hosting plan, and a success message appears.
Option 3 — Register a new domain
The Register a new domain choice will lead you to the Registrations page, where you can buy the domain’s registration. For more information, see the following article.
How to get a domain name registration
You can then add hosting to the domain after it has been acquired.
Option 4 — Choose a domain later
To create a free.dreamhosters.com subdomain, select the Choose a domain later option.
