High-availability hosting and Guaranteed Uptime
GreggHosting does not provide high availability (HA) Hosting, however, we do provide an uptime guarantee backed by an SLA. Every site on the GreggHosting platform is contained within a single Linux container, with the site database running as a service within the container. Each site does not have several load-balanced instances. Learn more about the architecture of GreggHosting.
We are able to deliver an SLA-backed 99.9% uptime guarantee because to the flexibility provided by container-based infrastructure, proactive load management by our Engineering team, and the utilization of a best-in-class cloud provider in Google Cloud Platform.
Circumstances That Block Uptime Monitoring
We monitor every site on our platform for uptime to ensure we meet our uptime guarantee. When one of our uptime monitors fails, our Engineers are dispatched to the location right once to restore service. However, there are a few circumstances in which our ability to track uptime may be limited:
If basic authentication is enabled, all unauthorized requests will receive a 401 error.
To avoid DDoS assaults, Cloudflare’s I’m under attack mode has a 5-second wait period. This does not apply to HEAD requests, which will receive a 503 response.
Sites that act as reverse proxy servers when the primary domain does not redirect to the target URL.
Sites that aren’t powered by WordPress: We are unable to keep track of these.
Custom caching in some cases can cause problems. If you cache GreggHostings’s query string HEAD request, for example. Depending on the settings, proxy services like Sucuri and Cloudflare can also cause caching issues.
Service to stop bots: Because our uptime monitor uses the GreggHosting-bot as a user-agent, blocking it via a plugin or service (user-agent refuse) may result in our uptime monitoring failing (this typically results in a 406 response code).
Our monitoring will be impacted if our uptime monitor’s IP address(es) or origin country (Geo-block) are blocked. It’s not an issue if you configure these functionalities on GreggHosting’s servers because we add exceptions.
If the primary domain does not resolve to the installation where it was added, or if it redirects to another domain (listed in the same site’s domain list),
A 503 answer may be returned when a site is in maintenance mode.
