Non-editable DNS records

Overview

On the DNS page for your domain, you’ll note that there are a lot of non-editable DNS records.

If you need to change the A record, www record, or ftp record for your domain, you must first delete the web hosting. Setting the domain to ‘DNS Only’ accomplishes this. Instructions on how to achieve this can be found in the following article:

Changing your domain’s DNS settings to ‘DNS Only’
If you don’t delete your hosting before adding your custom A records, the domain will point to two different locations and will not answer properly.

DNS propagation

It will take some time for the change to be reflected in the DNS records once you deactivate the web hosting.

You can force a refresh on the edit page for your domain, but only once per 12 hours.

It can take up to 6 hours for a DNS update to take effect. Nameserver changes, on the other hand, will take longer. This usually goes away in 3 to 72 hours.
