Using the Windows 10 Shell

Using the Windows 10 Shell

Overview

You can utilize a native Shell client in Windows 10. Previously, a third-party client such as PuTTY was required. You no longer need to download any additional software to connect to your GreggHost web server using the Shell integrated into Windows 10.

This is likewise enabled by default in Windows, so you don’t have to do anything.

Using the SSH client within the Command Prompt

Open your Command Prompt to utilize the SSH client. SSH commands can be run from there.

Type ‘cmd’ into the search bar on the bottom left.

To open the Command Prompt, click on the icon.

Instructions on how to locate your login credentials can be found in the SSH overview article. To log in, type ssh [email protected] once you’ve discovered it.
When you initially log in, you may receive a message that says “The server’s host key is unknown.” This is typical when you first log in, however if you want to double-check the server’s key, you can do so on your panel. For more information, see the following article:

The host key for the server is unknown.
