What Is U.S Sales Tax and How Does It Work?
A sales tax is a government-imposed consumption tax on the selling of goods and services. Because sales tax is regulated by states and may sometimes be levied by local governments, the percentage varies from city to city and state to state. At usa.gov, you may learn more about sales tax.

Which States Are Affected By U.S Sales Tax?

The location where services are conducted is used to compute and apply sales tax. We look at the address you enter when you sign up to establish where our services are being used. In My GreggHost, you may check and update this address.

Customers who use our services in any of the following states will be charged U.S sales tax on their invoices:

How Does U.S Sales Tax Affect Me?

If you live in the United States or your company is registered there, we are required to charge sales tax on your transactions if you live in a state that requires it (see list above).

The  U.S sales tax rate in Dallas, Texas, for example, is 8.25 percent at the time of writing. Your checkout total will be $64.95 if you purchase a Pro plan (list price of $60 at the time of writing). This includes the $60 list price plus a tax of 8.25 percent, or $4.95. These things are displayed separately on the checkout page and in your invoices, and are automatically added based on your location.

Sales Tax Exemptions

You or your business may be qualified for a sales tax exemption in certain circumstances. Exemptions from sales taxes are handled on a state-by-state basis. Please contact our support team and send a copy of your tax exemption certificate if your organization is exempt from sales tax.

What Happens On July 1st, 2019?

GreggHosting will begin charging sales tax to all US persons and corporations registered in a state that demands it as of this date (see list above). This update will also be announced in the My GreggHost dashboard.

Will My Sales Tax Be Refunded from Past Invoices?

Unfortunately, the answer is no. It is your responsibility to send us a copy of your tax exemption certificate. We are unable to refund sales tax that has been collected prior to having this information on file.
